About us Our trained and experienced staff in conjunction with world class facilities will ensure an unforgettable Safari. Apache Hunts is situated 500km South West of Johannesburg and 60km West of Kimberley, the nearest major city. With Barkley West the nearest town 30km west of the Safari area. The Safari area comprises of 8 500ha, 5 adjacent farms each independently fenced with the relevant exemptions. The meandering Harts River flows for 17km through the farms, offering wonderful opportunities to observe animals and abundant bird life. The Kalahari renowned for being arid and hot is transformed into an oasis providing excellent hunting, fishing for carp, yellow fish and catfish and the ever popular wing shooting with an abundance of guinea-fowl francolin, geese and duck. The savannah velt, with acacia thorn, rosyntjie bush, vaalbush and thickets of black thorn support a wide variety of species, which include, Sable, Nyala, Waterbuck, Blesbuck, Duiker, Eland, Gemsbok, Hartebeest, Impala, Kudu, Ostrich, Springbok, Steenbok, Warthog and the exotic Fellow Deer, animals and birds are predated by Jackal, Caracal and brown Hyena. The area is free from diseases such as malaria and bilharzia. HUNTING LODGES Gemsbok Camp 4-Star A modern, thatched, 4 star (SA Tourism rating) Lodge, comprising of 4 thatched chalets, each with 2 beds, a 3rd bed or double bunk can be added without compromising the spacious luxury. Each chalet has an en-suite bathroom consisting of a hand basin, shower and toilet. A fireplace to keep you warm on those crisp Kalahari nights. Stepping out your chalet you step onto a covered verandah with a view of the Harts River Valley. The central lapa of 200m² is thatched and enclosed by tarpaulin curtains, which can be opened or closed to keep out prevailing weather conditions. The lapa has a dining area, lounge, kitchen and pub with an inside braai / barbeque facility. The kitchen has all the cutlery and crockery for 12 guests as well as all the modern utensils one could expect to find in a modern home kitchen. On the outside there is an open braai / barbeque area in an enclosed kraal allowing you to relax around on open fire and enjoy the stars’, alternatively there is an open enclosed area with braai / barbeque facilities. Vehicles are safe in a covered parking facility for 4 vehicles. The camp is surrounded by a game fence ensuring safety from animals. KUDU CAMP – RUSTIC AMBIANCE A rustic camp situated a stone throw away from the banks of the Harts River, although rustic, this camp has all the comforts of home and an ambiance of traditional family hunts. The camp consists of six rooms, a kitchen, central lapa and a new communal ablution facility. The rooms all have 2 beds, the rooms are large, allowing for the addition of extra beds should they be required, all linen is provided as well as extra blankets for cold evenings. The kitchen has a fridge, deep freezer, stove as well as all the cutlery and crockery for 12 guests. (extra can be arranged), all appliances are electrical. The ablution facility, although communal are separate for men and women consisting of a bath, shower and toilet for ladies all separately accommodated and for the men we have 3 showers and 2 toilets. The central lapa is enclosed but open to stars with an open fire place and braai / barbeque facility. There is an enclosed area with braai / barbeque and dining area under cover, you have a choice of both worlds. Vehicles are safe in covered parking for 4 vehicles.
